With the return of fall weather, the museum's series of virtual events resumes with this Zoom-linked talk on Icelandic flora November 14th from 11am to 12pm. The interaction of human and plant immigration to Iceland is highlighted. The talk coincides with the opening week of the museum's exhibit Faux Flora, an immersive multimedia exhibition integrating scent, sound, sculpture, 3D-graphics, and photography.

April 2025 Hurtigruten Norway Coastal Voyage

This group cruise is being organized by a member of our lodge. It will take place April 1st to April 12th, 2025. The cruise begins in Bergen, Norway and travels north, hugging the spectacular coast, stopping along the way at fascinating ports, large and Lilliputian. We turn around at Kirkenes then sail back down the coast, again stopping at sites missed on the way north. Traveling at group rates affords substantial discounts.

Our ship is the Polarlys (Polar Lights). Please click on the above [...more information] link for an 8 minute video about this particular ship or web-search 'Welcome aboard MS Polarlys'. The Polarlys was built in 1996 but completely refurbished in 2016 and 2023. All rooms have, minimally, a flat screen TV, private bathroom with shower and toilet, toiletries, and the second bed converts to a sofa when not in use.

Included in the price offered our group are three amazing meals a day, wifi, on-board lectures, help from the Expedition Staff (questions about ports, Norway, etc.) and all day/evening tea and coffee. Size of the room and window designation is a factor in price, as are other optional room amenities such as desks and chairs, etc. Children Under 16 travel for half price.

Our organizer Gay Knudson recommends the Polar Inside (I2),since you need not be in your room except to sleep and shower!

Polar Inside: (I2) $2346 per person, double occupancy. No window

Please look at the Deck Plan to see exactly where the cabins are: go to the global.Hurtigruten.com site and search for Ships. Find Polarlys. Go to Cabins.
